Historical Royal Palaces

Bringing history back to life.

Treachery. Deceit. Murder.
Historical Royal Palaces had all the makings of a fun family day out.

The Historical Royal Palaces are some of the most iconic and enduring buildings in Britain, but the allure of these historical buildings has faced growing competition in an age of social media and a city of ever-increasing attractions.

In collaboration with HRP, we set out to change the perception of the palaces – from a place you ‘see’, to a place you ‘experience’.

The most recent work focused on bringing personality to the palaces by bringing back to life the characters who make these places such compelling destinations.

The resurrection of Anne Bolyen… with live recreation shows running daily at the tower we turned history into a real-time event, creating a buzz with PR, press, digital, social media and outdoor, with a takeover of Waterloo station and a projection on the side of the castle walls.

The live performance followed her journey from Greenwich to the Tower of London, as crowds bore witness to thedizzying fall of this extraordinary woman, who continues to exert a powerful fascination nearly five hundred years later.

The public was invited to immerse themselves in the drama and desires of Henry VIII, exploring a palace shaped by a one of history’s most imposing figures, and sampling food in the vast Tudor kitchens.

John Gerard was a Catholic priest held captive in the Tower of London at the turn of the 16th century for his beliefs. For the live performance the poor sod was brought back to life and tortured all over again, on a daily basis, before making a dramatic escape by abseiling down the side of the Salt Tower.

The Crown Jewels @ Tower of London

They are possibly the most visited objects in Britain, perhaps the world. But most remarkable of all is that this a unique working collection. The Imperial State Crown is usually worn by the monarch for the State Opening of Parliament – a fact that was deemed to be enticing to tourists and local visitors alike.

The Experience
of Another Lifetime

Right on your doorstep lies an experience that will take you far beyond the madding crowd.

The work below is from our earlier collaborations with HRP – work built on the proposition that the palaces are a place to which you can escape. A place to explore. And a family day out that won’t cost you an arm or a head.
