Giving nature a home
To most kids, nature is often seen as a place to visit, not something that exists where they already live.
And yet there is a wealth of wildlife right on their doorstep, just waiting to be discovered.
The RSPB wanted to show people that they’re not just for middle-class bird watchers. It was time to engage a new audience and create a new generation of wildlife conservationists.
The campaign focused on the familiar species found in and around gardens, giving the children personalised plans and an active role in protecting these animals.
Once the children had made their home for nature, they could make a little sign, take a photo and upload it on social media.
The whole project was a labour of love, from working with RSPB on their strategy, to rebranding the charity with ‘Giving nature a home’, to creating a national campaign which ran across TV, social and press and engaged thousands of people.
THE RESULTS:
65,000 guides to ‘Build Nature a Home’ requested.
At least 236,000 ‘homes for nature’ built across the UK.
1.3 million unique page views on the campaign website.
The campaign won multiple awards including 2 Gold DMAs
